[GENERAL] Trim OR create a clip of a song/track

Dear Deezer Support,

I cannot comprehend why the audio/media publishers allow this to happen: listen to the end of Hans Zimmer/Patrick Cassidy - Vide Cor Meum song - if you dare. This problem occurs quite often: at the end of the song/track (or at the beginning if e.g. it’s a concert record) the editor (in case of my example it’s Universal Classics Group) keeps together certain sounds before/after the main music/recordings which can completely ruin the experience of the listener.

Countless albums (especially old audio CDs) have also utilised the gapless playback feature which ends up with the same annoying result.

My request would be if you could add a feature to allow the user to create an alternative version of a song as a “clip” by trimming or defining a certain time-period to be played, please.

I’m aware of a workaround: manually editing and uploading the tracks to ´My MP3s´. However for doing so one legally has to be able to get hold of the original file of the song. (I personally know/like plenty of old songs with this kind of defect.)

In addition this feature would allow users to create simple playlists behaving like mixes.

One more note: Perhaps this could be a combined innovation with some sort of bookmarking feature. (My immature idea is like having special bookmarks, such as START/STOP, which can be utilised within playlists.)

I’m not certain about the legal background of this feature but I believe it shouldn’t be an issue.

Thank you in advance,
 Geck0hu

We don't officially support it, but there's an app called edjing when you can play with some songs, perhaps you can also trim some of them.

I passed your feedback on to the right team :)

Yeah it would be a great idea to have this feature, at least in the paid version.

iTunes has had that feature forever :

Hello @clarebearno1, thank you for the feedback and taking the time to share a  screenshot  I don’t think this will be a priority at the moment, but we can imagine to have such a feature in the future.

Have a nice weekend

Hi, to trim a clip of a song track, I think a music trimmer called Joyoshare Media Cutter is helpful to you. I recently got it for free due to its back-to-school promotion. It’s actually a combination of a lossless trimmer and a professional editor. I think you can try it.

Thanks for sharing it @ShawenSS I supposed you can only use that tool on your own files, right?

Reading the below statement in The Guardian, this request just came to my mind.

Alexis Lanternier, chief executive of the French streaming service, says it can compete with bigger rivals by rewarding the real musicians its subscribers want to support

I can’t express my support if a part of a song restrains me from listening to it, when I would pretty much enjoy the rest otherwise - see my example.

Please reconsider the priority of this feature request.
